Preview of a Pineapple (Float)

Now, I may not "get" Dole Whips, but I certainly can appreciate a Dole Whip inspired Vinylmation. I LOVE these things. My daughter and I have so many Vinyls I've lost count. They're harder to come by here in Texas, but thankfully I have many California friends who frequent Disneyland who I will definately be hitting up to get me one of these.

I found these pics on vinylmationkingdom.com

Guest Blog On Disleelandia

I was asked to write as a guest blogger for the Disleelandia archives. I am very excited for this opportunity and more than a bit flattered. Go give them a look-see and have fun. They've got lots of great Disney merchandise archived on there.

A Disney On the Cheap Tip

My daughter and I love things that glow in the dark, and when visiting a Disney Park you'll find no shortage of exciting illuminating items on sale each evening. Swords that glow, necklaces that blink and flash, light up roses, they're everywhere. But they can get expensive. That's no reason to miss out on the fun of luminosity. We love to make a trip to our local Target before any Disney trip. In their $1 bins they sell packs of glow bracelets. Each tube contains 10 bracelets. It's true that in some tubes you'll find a dud or two, but it's hard to complain when it was only $1. We buy a couple of tubes. It's nice to have a few extras to share with kids who are sitting near you while you crack them open. And when you have a bounty of glow bracelets, you can get creative on how you adorn yourself with them.

And Now It's Time For a Disney Confession

Dole Whips...I just don't get it.

But my daughter does.

I've never gotten the deal about pineapple flavored ice cream on top of pineapple juice. And I LOVE pineapple. Myself, I would much rather have a Mickey Pretzel with cheese. Mmmmmm.

Main Street Isn't the Only Place To See the Fireworks, Ya Know?

In fact, you don't even need a ticket! One night after one of those rare trips to Disneyland when we didn't stay until the park closed, we stopped for gas at the Chevron on South Harbor Blvd right across from Disneyland. Half way into a full tank we hear a BOOM. (not something you really hope to hear while you're standing at a gas station) My friend and I look up and see the "Remember...Dreams Come True" fireworks exploding in the sky. Excellent. "Kids! Roll down your windows."

The kids didn't even have to get out of the car.

A Jewel Brightens Our Day At Disney

As some of you know, a Disney Cast Member can oft times make or break a Disney experience. While dining with friends at Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill inside Disney's California Adventure, some wonderful mariachi ladies began to play and sing. My daughter often gets too overwhelmed with music to sit still so she jumped up from her seat and walked over in front of the performers and began to boogie. Nearby was a lovely Cast Memeber named Jewel who added a little bit of pixie dust to our trip as she paused for a moment from her regular duties to dance with my daughter.

In my opinion it is these tiny little moments that put the real magic in a Disney trip. Thank you Jewel for making our day sparkle!

My Review of Illuminations Fireworks Cruise At EPCOT

On September 3, 2006 my traveling companions and I rented a pontoon boat at the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts and embarked upon the Illuminations Fireworks Cruise at EPCOT. My review is as follows.

You rent a pontoon for up to 10 people for $325 (came out to a little more than $32 a person for everyone in our group) and it takes you on a private ride down the river to Disney's MGM Studios, then back around to EPCOT where you park under a bridge and get an unobstructed view of "Illuminations: Reflections of Earth". The nighttime fireworks show at EPCOT. Having never seen it before, and hearing wonderful things about it, I decided this was for me! We get on the pontoon and set sail down the little river. It was very cute. They provide sodas, water and all kinds of chips. We all felt so snooty booty. We were on the boat a good 90 minutes at least. The show was great. Our skipper told us a little about it. It's divided into 3 acts.

Act I: Chaos. Chaos signifies the Big Bang and the creation of the Earth

Act II: Order. Order is brought to Earth and the Earth Globe appears. It changes from hot white to red to blue. Images appear on the Globe of countries, famous places, objects, and people.

Act III: Celebration. The Earth Globe opens revealing a torch and 1,000 white fireworks are ignited. The final loud fireworks explode and white, perimeter flash and end with a loud crackle.

Now, let me tell you. Act 1 loses its mind!! I mean fireworks out the wazoo. And LOOOOOOUD as thunder. It was really neat. Fireworks were just shooting out of everywhere. Huge balls of fire were blazing all over the place. It was bad!! I was all caught up in it and then remembered that it was supposed to signify the "big bang", and that made it even cooler. The rest of the show was alright. A little slow. But, everyone enjoyed it. Myself, I was busy enjoying the free Doritos.
